I came across an article on online learning (Online Learning Grows). It seems that many are grappling with what online learning is, and what it means to teachers/instructors and institutions.

Quote: "...online educations as one answer to the nation's growing teacher shortage." The article expresses the possibility that online learning may bring retired instructors back into education...this has promise...but I can't see the notion that online learning will eliminate teaching positions...

Increasingly, views expressed on online learning indicate that it will grow the education field, not reduce it. As the unique aspects of online learning are discovered, the critical role of the teacher/instructor is being affirmed.
