Making Improvements in Tough Times
Quote: "It’s 2002, and the dot-com business rules are long forgotten. Belts have tightened, budgets run lean, and capital expenditures are considered a luxury. If this sounds familiar, you aren’t alone. Most companies have put IT expansion plans on hold.

Link Checking Tool via Column Two
Have a web site and need to reduce link rot?...this tool looks promising (and it's free). I had a look at one link checking service - $395 per year - not justifiable for most people.

ePeriodicals: Microsoft's Killer App for Tablet PC?
Quote: "Microsoft Corp. thinks it's found a killer app for its Tablet PC: as a home for a new breed of electronic magazines. The software giant is prepping an end-to-end electronic publishing solution, known as ePeriodicals...ePeriodicals technology will allow developers to create complex documents, like eMagazines, that can be read on a variety of devices, including the Tablet PC. The technology will manage the full publishing process—from the layout and creation of the documents; to their full editing life cycle; to their delivery via a push-type online subscription mechanism, say sources familiar with the plans."
Comment:The formatting and delivery of information is currently under massive pressure - the gateway of information is one of the few areas where organizations can make money from content. As the internet has proven, it's very difficult to create a revenue model for content. The pipe, not what flows through the pipe, has the greatest value.
