The 1% Solution
Quote: "Too many online publishers indulge in quick, cheap paid-subscription fixes that risk their online futures. Little revenue jolts make them feel good for a while, but they get strung out on a thin 1 percent solution -- the approximate percentage of unique users publishers have converted from free to fee."
Comment: This article is part of the overall soul-searching going on in journalism about the role/value of content. Educators will soon face a similar struggle (look at MIT's OpenCourseWare project as an example). Very notable statement: "He would know the real solution is to revamp the content into something more worthwhile to individual users' lives and better suited to a new medium."

Blogs and Corporate History
Quote: "History grounds people and helps to explain why certain actions were taken at a point in time. It also celebrates success. Over the last few weeks I have been reacquainting myself with some past colleagues and nothing connects us quicker that reliving our joint successes. In the KM space I would begin sharing KM success via weblogs. My own experience shows that one small seed of success grows many more elsewhere."
Comment: Blogging is a great way for administrators and managers to share their thoughts and visions with their organizations. Two obstacles: reducing the perceived need to derive personal value from hoarding information...and actually getting people to try the simplest of technologies.
